Monday 16th January was our first Portrait evening of the new year.
There was a good attendance, including a couple of our new members and by all accounts the evening was enjoyed by all.
We had two models - Zoe and her friend Sophie who showed great patience amid bright lights and quite a lot of photographers.
Under Ian Stewart's guidance we took a variety of images using several different types of lighting.
All being well we are hoping to hold another evening mid-February when we hope the attendance will be as good.
Thanks to everyone for pitching in to assemble all the equipment and equally important, putting it all away.
A big thank-you to Ian for giving his time to teach us all the Art of Portraiture.
Thanks,

Ness Gardens is holding a photography competion which entails the
photographer taking images during set times to depict the four seasons
at Ness.
With this in mind a group of members arrived on Sunday at Ness armed
with cameras, woolly hats, thick coats, gloves and huge smiles. The
weather was perfect for winter photography; blue sky, sunshine and frost.
Plenty of interesting light to enjoy before the sun went down.
A good oppourtunity to enjoy our hobby and who knows , maybe a winning
image revealed when reviewing them on pc at home, in the warmth.
Thanks Ian for suggesting this outing.

Our meeting on 11th January was very well attended as we had a guest speaker; Christine Widdall, President of the L&CPU presenting a talk entitled" In My View" illustrated with prints
Christine's sense of fun added to the pleasure we had when she presented some of her favourite images. With her own individual style, she coaxed such delicate colours from the images of flowers and landscapes ; then with a twist the landscapes became dark and dramatic. She quoted her mentor who told her to make her images show how she felt when she first viewed them, which is interesting advice although time consuming to achieve. All Christine's images did convey very different feelings to an attentive audience.
Christine was also very generous in describing how she developed her style and shared some of her techniques she used with us. A very inspiring evening. Thank you Christine.
